Install NLTK on 64-bit Windows

· NLTK, Windows 64-bit

There is a known, yet not well documented, issue with python installation on 64-bit Windows.

If you try any of the NLTK setups (PyYaml, Python Tools, NLTK) – you’ll get “Python is not found in the registry” error.

The solution is to start with step 1 from NLTK install-page:

http://nltk.org/install.html

Then, download and run the python script for 64-bit tools, ez_setup.py, from here: https://pypi.python.org/pypi/setuptools

Finally, continue with steps 4-6 from the NLTK install page (use the command lines)

Done!
